What I do

  • History of a place

What happened here? Why does my basement flood with wastewater every winter?

Diving deep to untangle the stories of a specific site, lot, home, community garden, institution, park, etc. This work draws from a variety of sources including archives, historic maps, postcolonial ecologies, and targeted site visits. Special attention will be made to elevate the stories of Black, Indigenous, queer, migrant, and working class lives - interweaving them with the realities and mythologies of “history” as told by predominant white supremacist narratives.

  • Contextual Genealogy

Where am I and how did I get here?

Using tools outside of traditional genealogy to build deep, personal, and intentional relationships with ancestors.

People who would benefit especially from this work are queer people, survivors of abuse, refugees, migrants, and others with limited access to blood family.

I have done a lot of work in the areas of

    • new york city; arkansas, florida, virginia, the carolinas; California and the "west"

    • family histories of people who worked the land and built america’s genocidal infrastructure projects

    • safely and supportively navigating the archives - the embodied experience of working in archival spaces with violent resources

    • the intuitive leaps it takes to do this research, and accessible and no-cost resources to do genealogical resource

  • Ghost Chasing

Who was here before me? What can they teach me and what can I offer in exchange?

Whether you grew up in a home where you were visited by previous inhabitants, or you are seeking to build a reciprocal relationship to a new space you are living in, growing on, or stewarding for future generations, this work seeks to elevate the stories that lay buried under the foundations of our everyday lives.

This is not an exorcism, or a ghost hunt, or a misa. Practices employed will remain firmly grounded in my own research tools and traditional practices, and (with your guidance) the practices of whoever your people are.

  • Divination

Where have we been? Where are we going?

A systemic ritual to gain insight into the events that stretch out infinitely behind us and in front of us.

    • Augury
